Because of convection currents heat creates circular movement in the underlying plastic, although non-molten, upper mantle and asthenosphere, the lithosphere is broken into tectonic plates that move AKA, the crust.

The upper part of the mantle is composed mostly of peridotite, a rock denser than rocks common in the overlying crust. The core has 2 parts inner core and outer core. The outer core is made of liquid iron, the inner core is also made of iron but solid iron.
